On 22-24 February 2013 in Chełm, the Lublin County Championship in boxing was held. Among those who performed well at the tournament were the charges of the coach Zenon Pawlikowski from ŁKS “Orlęta Łuków” boxing section. Anna Maksim, Agnieszka Osial, Emilia Świderska, Joanna Kleszcz, Aleksandra Goławska and Jakub Imanow became the County Champions, silver medals were won by Marta Maksim and Sebastian Pieńkosz.

Municipal Nursery School no 7 in Łuków is taking part in the UNICEF Polish nationwide project "All Colours of the World". Within the project the children and their parents as well as the nursery school's personnel are creating a special UNICEF charity doll - a symbol of help they want to give their peers in poor countries.

150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE JANUARY UPRISING

On the 22nd of January 2013 at 4pm at the Church of Transfiguration, a Holy Mass for the intention of the Insurgents started the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the January Uprising. The ceremony at the Monument of Remembrance Insurgents of Lukow was started by the speech of Luków mayor Dariusz Szustek. After the speech, the participants of the ceremony watched a multimedia presentation about the January Uprising, annotated by Agnieszka Tomasiak, a teacher from the 2nd Group of Schools in Lukow. They also listened to extracts from the martial law acts of the city of Lukow municipality dated from 1861 to 1864, read by the youth of Lukow.

The program was prepared under the guidance of teachers, literary part: School Deputy Director - Agnieszka Oleśkiewicz, Polish teacher: Jolanta Gnas - Zienkiewicz, musically arranged by: Andrzej Hryciuk .

The Central Bureau of Meteorological Forecasting IMGW-PIB O, in Krakow; duty forecaster Piotr Ramza informs about the intensive snowfall (the first state of emergency) to 7:00 on 23 January 2013, in the Lubelskie Province. The snowfall will occur and it will result in the increase of snow cover within 24 hours from 15 cm to 20 cm. The highest intensity of the phenomena is expected in the southern regions of the province. The largest intensity of snowfall is forecasted during the day.

Sleigh ride for preschoolers

The relapse of truly freezy and snowy winter was a great opportunity for children from The Municipal Kindergarten No. 4 in Łuków. On 17th January 2013 they took the coach to the village of Świdry for a sleigh ride. They ran through the forest paths on a sleigh pulled by the horses admiring the gorgeous winter landscapes.
